In Short

The US Treasury has quietly scrapped beneficial ownership reporting, Baron Trump's net worth jumped $150 million with no explanation, and World Liberty Financial has become the first presidential family business ever granted a national bank charter. Iran has separately alleged a $9 billion insider trading operation tied to the officials running its peace negotiations. The common thread is cheap debt and easy money, the exact conditions that have taken gold from $1,300 to over $4,500 an ounce since Trump first took office.

Donald Trump's presidency keeps finding new ways to get more corrupt. What started out as draining the swamp has turned into hiding the Epstein files, bombing Iran, and insider trading on a scale that's hard to keep up with.

Here's why that matters for your money: you can bet on it.

The US Treasury Just Made Fraud Easier

On the 12th of August, the US Treasury announced a final rule permanently removing the requirement for US companies and persons to report beneficial ownership information. FinCEN also confirmed it will delete previously reported ownership information from its database entirely.

Investigative journalist Coffeezilla put it bluntly: "Fraud and money laundering just got a lot easier thanks to check notes, US Treasury." This is exactly how the elite hide assets from the taxman, and murking the waters around who owns what directly benefits Donald Trump and his buddies.

Baron Trump's Mysterious $150 Million

Over the weekend, Trump was asked about Baron Trump's $150 million net worth increase over the past year. His answer: "It's none of your business."

Most of that increase ties back to the family's cryptocurrency firm, World Liberty Financial. The crypto tokens associated with the firm, Trump and Melania both included, have been rug pulled horrifically. The money came straight out of the pockets of the people who bought in.

World Liberty Financial Just Became a Bank

Trump signed the GENIUS Act, the federal law governing stablecoins, the exact product his family's company sells. In January 2026, that company applied for a national bank charter. Elizabeth Warren asked the Comptroller of the Currency to pause the review until Trump divested. He refused, and approved it on Friday.

World Liberty Trust Company, chaired by Zach Witkoff, will issue and manage USD1, a stablecoin with roughly $4 billion in circulation, more than half of it sitting with Binance, whose founder Trump pardoned in October 2025. Not once before in American history has a company owned by a sitting president's family been granted bank status.

Iran's $9 Billion Insider Trading Claim

Iran has now documented its own pattern of oil market manipulation tied to Trump administration officials, alleging a $9 billion insider trading operation linked to Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff, the two men managing the peace talks.

Between April and May of 2026, a series of strangely timed oil futures trades preceded major Iran war announcements. A senior Iranian official has said Tehran privately warned the US that Kushner and Witkoff were more interested in exploiting insider knowledge than reaching a deal. Then there's Trump's own media company, now charging high-frequency trading firms $100,000 a month for early access to what he's about to say. That's not a euphemism. That's the product.

Why This Points Straight to Gold

What's the common theme across all of it? Donald Trump doing whatever he needs to do to look after his buddies and himself. In a world where the rich own most of the assets, that means continuing to inflate asset prices, achieved through printing more money and keeping interest rates low.

Kevin Warsh, the man Trump installed to run the Federal Reserve, has been printing money at the fastest rate in five years, and despite tough talk about inflation, hasn't raised rates either. It's worth remembering Trump threatened the last Fed chair, Jerome Powell, with a criminal investigation for not cutting rates.

This is not financial advice. This is insight into what I do with my own money, not a recommendation for what you should do with yours.

With a pattern of behaviour like that, you can safely bet on Donald Trump to keep looking after himself and his buddies. And the way you position for that is through precious metals. When Trump got into office in 2016, gold was around $1,300 an ounce. Today it's over $4,500. If you're new to why that connection exists, our beginner's guide to precious metals breaks down the whole thesis.

Gold spot price (XAUUSD) weekly chart from 2011 to 2026, showing gold climbing from around $1,300 to over $4,487 an ounce

History shows that every time governments print too much money and keep interest rates too low for too long, gold moves.

What a time to be alive.
